Received an invite to join a team on #Stripe. When I click the link, I get a modal dialog which reads:
> Invitation for a different account. This invite has expired. It has already been redeemed.
Covering all bases there, I suppose.
Completely bewildered by the #VoiceDream subscription announcement. The blog post links to #Stripe for making a subscription payment, but that's not how subscriptions to #iOS apps are usually managed. Meanwhile, I can't see anything in the app itself about an account, #AppStore purchases, or subscriptions. If I pay through Stripe today, am I supposed to assume that at some point, the iOS app will be updated to respect that new subscription?
I only know about #Gumroad even existing because of adult content creators. I can’t imagine they’re going to be financially viable after kicking adult content off their platform. Part of me wouldn’t mind seeing that happen to them but the reality is this keeps happening because there’s nothing currently stopping what Adorable_Sergal termed Payment Processor Puritanism. https://hachyderm.io/@Adorable_Sergal/112101643350685206
If anyone has suggestions on how to fight #PayPal, #Stripe, #Visa, #MasterCard and all the other villains in this cycle, I’d love to hear them.
Third party payment processors will always screw over SWs. Always.
J'ai modifié mon blogue francophone pour que les gens puissent s'abonner directement.
Il n'y a pas encore de contenu premium, mais ça va venir.
La page des abonnements est ici:
I've modified my WordPress instance so that my premium content will be hosted there in the future. I have only one premium article there right now, but I plan to migrate more from Ko-Fi.
Of course, the non-premium content is always available there.
*I'm no longer using Ko-Fi for new subscriptions.*
Everything as far as subscribing, donating, buying a login on my Mastodon instance is now on my blog. It talks directly to Stripe without having to go through Ko-Fi.
I haven't moved my French-language blog yet, but it should soon follow.
This page has the membership options:
I'm working on a Stripe Connect integration in the Laravel application I'm building for a client. What's your testing strategy with Stripe/Cashier, especially re: Connect? How do you handle Stripe Connect API calls in your tests?
I have tests running in Github Actions on every PR & merge to main, in addition to writing and running them locally.
The elephant in the room in the migration away from #Substack is the payments gateway IMHO
Substack uses #Stripe. Move to WordPress? The payments platform is Stripe. The European platform Kessel.media? Stripe. I haven't seen *any* alternative, have you? Please share!
Stripe takes more or less a 5% cut per transaction. It's available in many countries but not all. It requires you have some sort of company or legal entity to receive the money. Not criticising it but, are there other options?
I did it, I committed to @buttondown. They use #Stripe, but my newsletter's free so we don't need to involve them. I've successfully exported all my subscribers and the back catalog of newsletters to #Buttondown, and... all that's left is to delete my #Substack. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Platforming and funding nazis while eliminating sexuality from the internet is the design. This isn’t specifically a #Substack thing (although they are extremely guilty and complicit). It’s #Paypal , #Stripe , and all the major card processors. They’re either specifically trying to support a Christian Nationalist agenda or they’re very knowingly allowing Christian Nationalists to work through them.
In terms of sexuality, the Christian Nationalists are defining everything that isn’t sex for “procreative purposes” as being deviant. If you have anything relating to your gender that doesn’t conform to their made up ideas of “traditional gender norms,” they’ve defined that as sexual too.
This is the Christian Nationalist agenda. They may not have come for you yet but they’ll get to you soon enough. We’ve already been fighting. It’s long past time for everyone else to join us.
Can't get a #Beehiiv account because they prohibit sexual content.
Wrote to #Buttondown and #Ghost to learn what their standards are. However, they both use #Stripe, who has suspended me for adult content.
It's so much harder to talk about sexual fantasy than it is to decry certain skin colors and genders as not human. Even those comments on #Substack's announcement were alternately "eww, porn is gross" and "hang on, let's see what the Nazis have to say."
@liamerven@tweesecake.social And I don’t see why you couldn’t drop a stripe link in a YouTube description, or a link that redirects people to your #Stripe page. I love how, depending on the device people join the link on, they can pay with their favorite wallet. For the most part. The cash app integration is pretty slick too.
